Crypto Company Accidentally Sends Its Users $90 Million
Usually when information technology comes to money, a lot of companies tend to be very careful, especially financial institutions. This is why even though information technology does happen, very rarely practise y'all hear almost banks sending people more money than they actually intended. Notwithstanding, mistakes practise happen, such as the case with Compound, a decentralized finance staking protocol.
It seems that the company had accidentally deposited cryptocurrency into the accounts of some users totalling $89 million. This was patently due to a bug in the system that resulted in the incorrect payouts to users. Obviously $89 million is a lot of money, which is why the visitor is now pleading with users for its coin back.
If you received a large, wrong corporeality of COMP from the Chemical compound protocol error:
Delight return it to the Compound Timelock (0x6d903f6003cca6255D85CcA4D3B5E5146dC33925). Keep 10% every bit a white-lid.
Otherwise, information technology'due south being reported as income to the IRS, and nearly of you are doxxed.

In a tweet past the company'south CEO Robert Leshner, he'southward request that users return the money. He suggests that those who do might even become to proceed x% of the money they were given as a advantage for doing the right thing. However, he as well threatened users who didn't, proverb that the coin they received will be reported to the IRS every bit income (meaning that they'll have to pay a tax on information technology), and that "nearly of you are doxxed".
I'thousand trying to practice anything I tin to help the community become some of its COMP back, and this was a bone-headed tweet / arroyo. That'due south on me.
Luckily, the community is much bigger, and smarter, than just me.
I appreciate your ridicule and back up.

However, it seems that he backtracked on his comments, calling information technology a "bone-headed tweet/approach". We're not sure how many users have returned the money, but Leshner is taking time to tweet out to those who did.
